The Francophone Games (Jeux de la Francophonie in French) are a multinational, multi-sport event held every 4 years for the Francophone (French-speaking) countries, organized by the Associação dos Comité international des jeux de la Francophonie (CIJF). Founded in 1989, partly as a counterweight to the Commonwealth Games. They are open to athletes and artists of the 56 member nations of the Francophonie. Canada is represented by 3 teams: Quebec, New Brunswick and Canada. The Belgian team is restricted to athletes from the French-speaking areas of the country.
