The ELF Cup (aka Equality Liberty Fraternity Cup) is an international football tournament held every 2 years for nations unaffiliated to FIFA, organized by the Cyprus Turkish Football Association (CTFA).
The ELF Cup began in 2006 in Northern Cyprus in response to a dispute with the NF-Board, organizers of the VIVA World Cup. Among the participants were fellow NF-Board/non-FIFA teams and surprisingly 3 FIFA Asian teams (Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan & Afghanistan). Under pressure from FIFA, Afghanistan withdrew and was replaced by Gǎgǎuzia, while Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan sent their futsal national teams. 8 teams played in 2006 with hosts Northern Cyprus winning. The CTFA hopes the tournament will help bring Northern Cyprus into the international arena.
