N Seoul Tower on Namsan hill

The Namsam hill in the centre of the city provides a breathtaking view of the enormous size of this cultural and financial metropolis. It is popular with day trips for the local population and the summit may be reached by foot or cable car.

Namdaemun/Sungnyemun Gate

Namdaemun (Great Southern Gate) is a symbol of Seoul and has been designated as National Treasure Number 1. Particularly beautiful when floodlit at night, and best combined with a visit to the adjacent Namdaemun Market.

Myeong-dong

The Myeong-dong is a very popular and crowded area for young people, especially at night. This fashion and touristy area has a lot of stores and restaurants. Its location next to Namdaemun Market makes it a great place to stroll at night.

Deoksu-gung

The Deoksu-gung Palace was built during the mid-fifteenth century, the architecture of the buildings inside are heavily influenced with Western designs. It was used as a temporary royal residence by the King after Japan's 1598 invasion ended.

Gyeongbokgung Palace

Gyeongbokgung Palace was built in 1395 as a tribute to the permanent happiness and prosperity of Korea's kings, their children and the people. It was burnt down like much of Seoul during the Japanese invasion of 1592, and was rebuilt in 1865.
