Big Games
The following list of fixtures tries to rank the
biggest worldwide club and national team
fixtures in our database. The scoring isn't
perfect but gives a decent depiction of the
world's top upcoming matches. Many of these
matches are just big teams pitted against each
other with no history of rivalry. Some of these
however are `derbies' or matches between rival
clubs or nations. Football rivalries come about
from many things, the first being geography:
local cross-town or regional clubs vying for
bragging rights or historical animosity between
neighboring nations. Other rivalries begin with
animosity amongst fans, on or off-field
incidents, media provocations, politics,
culture, class, religion and other factors.
These matches can be amazing spectacles but
aren't meant for the feint of heart or small
children.
