La Sagrada Familia
La Sagrada Familia
La Sagrada Familia (The Holy Family) is Antoni Gaudí's wondrous basilica and the icon of Barcelona. Under construction since 1882, it won't be completed until around 2065. Gaudí's many works have given the city its own unique style.
Mancana de la Discordia
Mancana de la Discordia
Mançana de la Discòrdia (Apple of Discord) is the 'must see' block on Passeig de Gràcia. Its name derives from the close juxtaposition of its 3 distinct modernist buildings: Casa Lleó Morera, Casa Amatller and Gaudí's ethereal Casa Batlló.
Parc Guell
Parc Guell
Parc Güell is Gaudí's whimsical woodland park complete with tiled dragon fountain, gingerbread houses, Doric columns, mountaintop chapel and vistas at every turn, creating one of the most unique man-made landscapes ever created.
Las Ramblas
Las Ramblas
Las Ramblas is the world famous people-watching pedestrian street with dozens of outdoor cafes plus loads of flower-stands, kiosks, jugglers, singers, dancers, puppeteers, sidewalk artists, living statues and assorted oddballs.
Barri Gotico (Gothic Quarter)
Barri Gotico (Gothic Quarter)
Barri Gotico (Gothic Quarter) is the centre of the old city and is characterized by narrow cobbled streets with tall old buildings that date back from medieval times and some as far back as the original Roman settlement of Barcelona.
Barcelona is the capital and most populous city of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. It is located on the Mediterranean coast, between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs, and is limited to the west by the Serra de Collserola ridge. Barcelona is a major economic centre, with one of Europe's principal Mediterranean ports. Founded as a Roman city, Barcelona became the capital of the Counts of Barcelona and the Crown of Aragon. Besieged several times during its history, Barcelona is today an important cultural centre and a major tourist destination with a rich cultural heritage. Particularly renowned are architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner that have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
