Buenos Aires (Lanus)
"The Paris of South America" El Obelisco & Avenida 9 de Julio
The Avenida 9 de Julio, the world's widest street, is named after Argentina's independence day. The main landmark on the avenue is the iconic El Obelisco which sits at the center of the Plaza de la República in the heart of Buenos Aires.
Tango
The sensual Tango is commonly seen performed on the streets of Buenos Aires, with an annual 'Tango Day' each December 11th. In the San Telmo district, Sundays are devoted to tango shows on the streets around Dorrego Square.
Teatro Colon
Deeply influenced and self-consciously modeled after its European heritage, Buenos Aires is the site of the Teatro Colón, one of the world's greatest opera houses. It has entertained local Porteños with grand spectacles since 1908.
La Boca & Caminito Street
Caminito street and La Boca are known by tourists as the colorful Buenos Aires barrio (neighborhood) with the strong influence of its early Genoese Italian settlers. Its even more popular for being the home of Boca Juniors and La Bombonera.
Bife de Lomo & Mendoza Malbec Wine
The Gauchos of the rich grass Pampas region raise the finest beef in the world. Nowhere will you find bigger, better, juicier, tastier & more tender steaks than in the top Parrillas (steak houses) of Buenos Aires - La Cabrera is a favorite of many.
Buenos Aires has a distinct Paris vibe. Porteños (Port People) live in a complex, energetic & seductive sea-port with wide tree-lined boulevards for strolling, leafy parks, grand buildings & monuments, varied culture & nightlife. Countless bistros & cafés overflow with patrons lingering over coffee & conversation. Food is serious in BA & not to be missed are the steaks, pizza, ice cream, tostados, alfajores & Malbec wine. The city districts are small & very unique, each one having its own colors & shapes. The multi-ethnic past of the city is embodied in its architecture, where Spanish Colonial style, Italian detail & French Classicism mix. Their cultures still paint the city & can be enjoyed in countless galleries, theatres, museums & fine eateries.
