The Gulf Cup (aka Gulf Cup of Nations, Arabian Gulf Cup or Persian Gulf Cup) is a regional football tournament held biennially for Persian Gulf/Middle East nations that for the most part aren't invited to the WAFF Championship, organized by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The Gulf Cup was founded at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico by Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The 1st Gulf Cup tournament took place in 1970 in Bahrain.
